2016 marks the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster but our help is still much needed, particularly by the children, as cancers and genetic problems in Belarus continue to rise.

CCP Solihull Group has hosted over 360 Belarussian children since 1999. The children’s life chances are vastly reduced due to the contaminated environment in which they live. The children we host are in remission from cancer and are selected by a Belarussian Cancer charity. They spend 2 weeks in pairs with host families, then a further 2 weeks together at a residential school.

Last year another group of amazing children enjoyed a wonderful holiday. Seven of them including Vasa and Kiryl (both 14) pictured, were recovering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a disease linked with exposure to radiation from the Chernobyl Disaster.

This Summer Solihull Group will invite another group of very deserving young teenagers in remission, for a recuperative holiday, which will boost their health, happiness and confidence. Many trips and activities are planned to ensure they all enjoy the holiday of a lifetime.

In addition, CCP provides recuperative holidays in Belarus for severely disabled children, who are unable to travel.  The charity works closely with the hospice movement in Belarus also and provides much needed end of life care and palliative care for the most vulnerable.

CCP also provides training and educational visit for partners in Belarus to help improve the life chances of the most vulnerable.  The charity has introduced a foster care programme which has led to the the closure of many large orphanages.  It has opened the first respite day care centre for severely disabled children and has opened 2 residential homes enabling young disabled people to enjoy life in a family environment.
